New Website

Well its been a while since my last blog post, the facebook page has taken over a little bit but I plan to blog a little more from now on.

We had some good news recently when we were awarded the Optimise fund, this is a fund set up by the IE Domain Registry (IEDR) to help Irish websites improve their web presence with a E-Commerce upgrade.

Over the next few weeks www.idmodels.ie will be getting a major upgrade. Our aim is to bring you an easier website to navigate, more interactive, with more items for sale and 100% accurate stock control.

We will hopefully launch the new site before Christmas, we will keep you up to date on our progress.

If you have any suggestions of what feature you would like please do not hesitate to contact us, all feedback is much appreciated. info@idmodels.ie

Thanks

ID Models.

Below I'm receiving the award from Eamon Gilmore.

Press release

- Fund established by IEDR to help SMEs address findings of IEDR report which revealed only 2/3 of Irish businesses are online and of those only 21% are transactional -

Wednesday, 28th September 2011: The IE Domain Registry (IEDR), the managed registry for Ireland’s official Internet address .ie, today announced the ten recipients of the company’s €100,000 OPTIMISE Fund at a presentation attended by guest of honour, An Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore T.D. at the official opening of the company’s new office in Dun Laoghaire.

The OPTIMISE Fund will enable the owners of ten Irish SMEs and micro-enterprises to begin the process of upgrading their existing online presence to fully featured websites which incorporate ecommerce functionality and other facilities designed to support business growth and development. By utilising new online technologies, the recipients will be better placed to harness the potential of the Internet as a 24 hour sales and marketing channel through which to gain competitive advantage in an online marketplace.

The ten recipients, who will each receive €10,000 worth of professional technical and marketing support with which to plan and carry out a major e-commerce upgrade, comprise both start-up and established businesses:

Announcing the recipients, An Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore, T.D. said, “I congratulate IEDR on ten years’ work in creating an important brand for Ireland in .ie, which McAfee has consistently credited with being one of the world’s safest and most trusted domain names. The company’s Domain Name Industry Report highlights that the company has its finger on the pulse of issues facing small businesses today and this initiative provides welcome support and complements a range of Government initiatives such as those supported by the County Enterprise Boards, An Post and Enterprise Ireland designed to develop Irish businesses’ trade prospects online. I wish the ten recipients well as they start work with the OPTIMISE Fund and I’m sure their success will encourage others to see how they can harness the potential of a fully transactional e-commerce website in the weeks and months ahead.”

Congratulating the recipients, Mr. David Curtin, Chief Executive of the IE Domain Registry, said, “Ireland has a terrific brand in the .ie domain name and it’s imperative that Irish businesses use it to fulfil their potential online. From our ongoing engagement with Irish Internet stakeholders we know that companies in Ireland remain slow to capitalise on the internet and new technologies. Our annual Domain Name Industry Report found that just 66% of Irish businesses had a website by 2009 and of those, only 21% had any kind of e-commerce functionality, an increase of just 3% since 2000. Our decision, therefore, to establish the OPTIMISE Fund on our tenth anniversary was to highlight that Irish companies need to make more of their presence online if they are to compete in a marketplace that demands e-commerce capability. We’ve had a terrific response from SMEs to the Fund with over 100 applications received. Our panel of independent judges has identified ten recipients that IEDR can really help make the transition to e-commerce enabled businesses and we look forward to helping them take this important next step in their development.”
